The Backstory~~~Ecclesiastes 9:11
"It was 12:00 noon on December 12, 2010. I was having lunch with a pastor and his wife. During our lunch, my friend got a telephone call. I overheard him say, 'I know you want to do it today but the leaders from my church are not able to get over there today. I am sorry.' He looked at me and asked, 'Can Operation NOW receive property as a donation?' 'Yes,' I said, 'We are a 501c3 organization.' He proceeded to talk back to the man on the other end of of the phone and said, 'I have someone here who would love to accept your donation.'
That afternoon I went to Belleville, IL and met the men who then donated seven lots of land in Madison and St. Clair counties. They deeded the properties to us (Operation NOW) and said that if our ministries wanted to sell the parcels and put the money into our ministries, that would be okay with them.
Since these properties have been given to us as a gift, my desire was to do what God intended for them. I knew it must be something special or I would not have been in that place on that day to receive such a large gift from someone I didn't even know.
What could this property be used for that would really please God and have a positive impact on His kingdom? One location (1.85 acres) is located a bit southeast of exit 9 on I-64. It sits on top of one of the highest points in St. Clair County. The other location is 100 feet x 40 feet and is at exit 9 on I-55/70 in Madison county, about 50 yards from the highway.
Remember the date of the gift was December 2010. Today's date....February 2013. Prayer, thoughts, waiting, more prayer and more waiting...now I know without a doubt. A cross...a 150 ft. cross...the Christian symbol of my God's love to all the world.
Both locations can be easily viewed. Using a vehicle count of 150,000 and 2 people per car, we estimate 300,000 people per day will see these crosses. Imagine what an impact this could have on the kingdom. Blessing, thankfulness, and convictions may be generated from the crosses each day, 365 days a year." ~~~~Jim Williams
